MUMBAI: While the financial status of most of the 27 outgoing state cabinet ministers improved moderately over the past five years, there were notable exceptions where the rise was considerable, show affidavits they have filed. Most of the rise in net assets was because these ministers purchased land and flats during the period.
Among cases where the increase was substantial was that of Aditi Tatkare, women and child development minister. She saw a 772% increase in net assets, which rose from Rs 39 lakh in 2019 to Rs 3.4 crore. Public works minister Ravindra Chavan’s net worth rose 117% from Rs 7 crore to Rs 15.5 crore. Minister for soil and water conservation Sanjay Rathod logged a 220% rise, from Rs 5.9 crore to about Rs 15.9 crore. Sanjay Bansode, minister of sports, youth welfare and ports development, saw his net assets grow 144% from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. CM Eknath Shinde‘s net assets saw a 66% growth.
