‘Uniform Civil Code, 5 lakh employment opportunities’: BJP releases manifesto for Jharkhand assembly elections | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra’, ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Sanjay Seth, BJP Jharkhand chief Babulal Marandi were also present at the event.
Addressing the event after releasing the manifesto, Amit Shah called this election a critical moment for Jharkhand, urging voters to choose wisely. “This election in Jharkhand is not just an election to change the government, but an election to ensure the future of Jharkhand. The people of Jharkhand have to decide whether they want a government full of corruption or a BJP government moving forward on the path of development under the leadership of PM Modi,” Amit Shah said.
The home minister said that the BJP aims to protect Jharkhand’s identity, land, and the safety of its women from the threat of infiltration, contrasting it with the alleged negligence of opposition parties.
Here are the top promises made by BJP in its manifesto for Jharkhand assembly election:

  • BJP committed to implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand, exempting tribal communities from its ambit.
  • If voted into power, the BJP promises to address the longstanding Sarna religious code demand, pledging to take an appropriate stance on the issue.
  • A special commission would be established to ensure fair rehabilitation for those displaced by industrial and mining activities.
  • The manifesto outlines plans to create 500,000 employment opportunities, including 287,000 government jobs, to combat unemployment.
  • CBI and SIT probes would be conducted into alleged paper leak incidents in Jharkhand, with a vow to hold perpetrators accountable.
  • A law will be introduced to reclaim land from infiltrators, with efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants from the state.
  • Under the ‘Gogo Didi scheme,’ women would receive Rs 2,100 monthly. Additional provisions include free LPG cylinders for Diwali and Rakshabandhan, and a subsidized rate of Rs 500 for further supplies.
  • The BJP has pledged to provide 2.1 million families with permanent homes and ensure tap water connections, aiming to improve living standards.
  • The party plans to extend benefits under the Laxmi Johar Yojana, including gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 and two free cylinders annually.
  • A commitment was made to fill 287,500 government positions with transparency.

Elections for 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly will be conducted in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23.
In the previous assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, the BJP won 25 and Congress won 16 seats.
