NEW DELHI: BJP leader and former municipal councillor BB Tyagi joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, marking another loss for the BJP ahead of the Delhi assembly polls.
This follows the departure of three-time former MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar, who left the party to join AAP last week.
Tyagi, a two-time municipal councillor and former standing committee chairman of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, previously contested the assembly elections in 2015 from the Laxmi Nagar constituency on a BJP ticket. AAP sources indicated that he could be nominated for the Laxmi Nagar seat, currently held by the BJP.

He joined AAP in the presence of senior leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and MLA Durgesh Pathak at the party headquarters. Sisodia welcomed Tyagi, highlighting his strong community connections and affirming that such involvement is beneficial for the party.
Tyagi expressed his admiration for AAP’s efforts in education, health, and public utilities, stating that it is the best party for those who wish to serve the public. Assembly elections in Delhi are expected to take place in February next year.
