PRAYAGRAJ: At least three people, including a minor, died and nine others were injured when a private bus carrying a marriage party rammed into a moving truck from the back near Mohar village on the Prayagraj-Kanpur highway under the limits of Kalyanpur police station of Fatehpur district early Wednesday. Upon being alerted, senior police officials rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation.
The incident, according to the police, occurred when the bus was carrying a marriage party to Noida from Prayagraj.
A total of 23 baratis were on board the ill-fated bus.
While two people, including a 55-year-old woman and a minor boy, died on the spot, a woman breathed her last during treatment at the hospital in Kanpur. The injured were taken to CHC Binkidi and the district hospital in Fatehpur for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran Devi (55), Kumkum Singh (20), and Aditya Raj (5), residents of Prayagraj.
Additional SP (Fatehpur) Vijay Shankar Mishra told TOI that “the treatment of four and two injured persons was underway at the district hospital and CHC (Bindiki) respectively, while three critically injured persons were referred to Hallet hospital in Kanpur for treatment.”
