The incident was caught on camera in which Naresh Meena, a Congress rebel, was seen assaulting SDM Amit Chaudhary.
As per the reports, during the polling, Naresh Meena tried to forcibly enter the polling station in Samraota area.
When the administration and police officers tried to stop him, a scuffle ensued.
Meena alleged that the SDM made three voters cast their votes surreptitiously.
“This made the public agitated,” said Meena.
He also alleged that his election symbol on the EVM was unclear, causing difficulties for his voters.
Later, in a video message, Meena said, “I am sitting on a dharna with the villagers of Samraota panchayat. The villagers demand that their panchayat be placed under Uniara sub-division, which is 15km from their village, instead of Deoli, which is 50km away from their village. We want the Tonk collector to come here and write a letter to the chief minister requesting him to place their village under the Uniara sub-division again.”
Tonk collector Saumya Jha said, “The SDM was appointed as the area magistrate for election duty. Now, ADM Malpura has replaced him as the area magistrate. The SDM will submit a report to us, based on which we’ll take further action or initiate an investigation. Either he or the police will file an FIR in the case.”
