NEW DELHI: There’s no stopping Yashasvi Jaiswal. The young Indian batting sensation continues to make waves in Test cricket as he became the batter with most sixes in a calendar year in the longest format of the game.
The 22-year-old batter achieved the milestone during the second day of the first Test against Australia in Perth on Saturday.
Jaiswal redeemed himself after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings, scoring an unbeaten 90 studded with seven fours and two sixes.

With his two maximums in the second innings, Jaiswal has taken his tally of sixes to 34 in 12 Tests in 2024.
Stepping down the pitch, he lofted a flighted delivery from Nathan Lyon over long-on for a massive six. This marked his 34th six of the year, surpassing former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum‘s record of 33 sixes in a calendar year.
Jaiswal is playing his 12th Test of 2024 in Perth, nearing the end of a remarkable year in Test cricket. Since making his debut in 2023, he has scored two double centuries in 2024 – one each against England in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot.
Additionally, he has accumulated eight half-centuries, averaging 57.47 with an impressive strike rate of 73.10.
Jaiswal recently became the youngest Indian to reach 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year during the second Test between India and New Zealand last month.
Talking about the match, India built an ominous 218-run lead over Australia after Jaiswal and KL Rahul (62 not out) added an unbeaten 172 for the opening wicket.
