NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Indians (MI), one of the most successful Indian Premier League (IPL) teams with five titles, are tight on budget to fill the remaining slots as they go into the two-day IPL auction in the port city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Every franchise had a total purse of INR 120 crore before the retention window opened, and MI chose to spend INR 75 crore of those to retain the core players from their last roster and were left with INR 45 crore in their purse before taking the flight to Jeddah.
Ahead of the auction, MI had retained Jasprit Bumrah (INR 18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (INR 16.35 crore), Hardik Pandya (INR 16.35 crore), Rohit Sharma (INR 16.30 crore) and Tilak Varma (INR 8 crore).
