For the first time, three Gandhis from Congress – Rahul, Priyanka, and Sonia – in Parliament | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday took oath as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha.
She took the oath while holding a copy of the Constitution, and wore a white saree with a golden border.

With her oath as an MP, it is for the first time that Rahul, Sonia, and Priyanka Gandhi will be present in parliament together.
While Priyanka’s brother Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli seat, her mother Sonia Gandhi is a Rajya Sabha MP.
In the recently held by-elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 4,10,931 votes, defeating Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI).
The Wayanad seat was previously held by Rahul Gandhi, who shifted to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected to the Lok Sabha from there in this year’s general elections.

The election in Wayanad, a Congress stronghold, featured a three-way contest between Priyanka Gandhi, BJP’s Navya Haridas, and CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri.
After receiving her election certificate, Priyanka Gandhi described it as a symbol of trust and shared values. She said on X, “My colleagues from Wayanad brought my certificate of election today. For me, it is not just a document; it is a symbol of your love, trust, and the values we are committed to. Thank you, Wayanad, for choosing me to take forward this journey to build a better future for yourselves.”
On November 23, she thanked the voters of Wayanad for their support, saying on X, “I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. I will make sure that over time, you truly feel this victory has been your victory and that the person you chose to represent you understands your hopes and dreams and fights for you as one of your own. I look forward to being your voice in Parliament!”
