PM Modi to attend the screening of Vikrant Massey’s ‘The Sabarmati Report’ in parliament today | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other parliamentarians, is scheduled to attend a special screening of the film ‘The Sabarmati Report‘ in Parliament today, December 2. The film, starring Vikram Massey, focuses on the events surrounding the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, which resulted in significant violence in Gujarat.
Previously, Modi praised the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which examines the events surrounding the Godhra train tragedy in 2002. He remarked that a “fake narrative can only persist for a limited period” and expressed confidence that the truth will ultimately be revealed.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film is based on the Sabarmati Express train burning incident that took place on the morning of February 27, 2002, near Godhra railway station in Gujarat. On that day, as the train was leaving Godhra, a fire erupted in four coaches of the Sabarmati Express, leading to the tragic deaths of 59 individuals, including 27 women and 10 children, who were returning from a pilgrimage to Ayodhya.
The incident resulted in riots in Gujarat, with criminal charges brought against then Narendra Modi. The case progressed through various levels of the legal system. In June 2022, the Supreme Court upheld the clean chit issued by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to Modi and 63 others in connection with the 2002 riots. Additionally, the court dismissed a plea from Zakia Jafri, the wife of slain Congress leader Ehsan Jafri, who had challenged the SIT’s findings.
