NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will watch the film ‘The Sabarmati Report‘ at 4pm on Monday at the Balyogi Auditorium within the Parliament campus.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film explores the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, which triggered widespread unrest in Gujarat.
At the time, PM Modi served as the state’s chief minister, and his name has often been associated with the tragic events that unfolded during the crisis.
PM Modi had earlier expressed his appreciation for the film. Responding to a tweet about the Vikrant Massey-starrer, which delves into the events leading up to the Godhra tragedy, he wrote on X: “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”
In a separate development on Monday, lead actor Vikrant Massey announced a break from films, saying it was time to “recalibrate” and return home. The announcement comes just weeks after the release of his latest movie, ‘The Sabarmati Report’.
During promotions for the film, which premiered on November 15, Massey said that he has received death threats on social media. However, he expressed no concern, pointing out that the movie is “purely based on facts.”
