Vikrant Massey announces retirement from acting at 37; ‘The Sabarmati Report’ co-star Raashii Khanna SHOCKED! | – Times of India

In a move that has stunned fans and colleagues alike, actor Vikrant Massey has announced his decision to retire from acting.
Known for acclaimed performances in ’12th Fail’, ‘The Sabarmati Report‘, and ‘Sector 36’, the 37-year-old actor shared the news through an emotional Instagram post on Monday morning.
Early Monday morning, Vikrant, who will be seen in ‘Zero Se Restart’ took everyone by surprise when he released a statement sharing that he planned to step back from acting after 2025. His note read, “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor.”
He said that 2025 will be the last time he will be seen on the big screen. He wrote, “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between Forever indebted.”

According to reports, Vikrant is currently busy with ‘Yaar Jigri’ and ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’.
The announcement also took his ‘The Sabarmati Report’ co-star Raashii Khanna by surprise. The actress, who was out and about town promoting the film with the actor, also expressed her shock over his sudden decision. Taking to the comments, she wrote, “What? No!”
Other industry colleagues, including Dia Mirza and Esha Gupta, shared heartfelt responses. Dia encouraged him, saying, “Breaks are best—you’ll be even more amazing on the other side.”
Esha Gupta, on the other hand, sent her love through heart emojis, simply adding, “Vikrant.”
While many fans expressed support, wishing him the best for his future, others speculated about the reasons behind his decision. Some suspected it might be a marketing strategy for an upcoming film, while others questioned if it was due to political pressure.
One fan wrote, “Most likely a marketing methodology for an upcoming project so that people will be curious to watch the movie in the theatre. Later he will change the statement. Relax.”
Another commented, “I just hope this is not because of the political pressure.”
The announcement comes during a high point in Vikrant’s career. His recent film, ‘The Sabarmati Report’, has been widely praised, and his contributions to Indian cinema are celebrated for their depth and versatility.

Speaking recently at the closing ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Vikrant discussed his approach to his craft. “I always try to work responsibly. Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema,” he said.
Vikrant emphasised his interest in creating both entertaining and inspiring films, underscoring the influential role of cinema. “Cinema remains a highly influential medium. Many in society draw inspiration from it. In India, we produce about 1,800 to 2,000 films annually, encompassing all genres. While all kinds of films should be made, responsible cinema is thriving, and audiences are appreciating it,” he added.
It remains to be seen whether this is truly a goodbye or simply a pause in an illustrious career.
