BENGALURU: A 19-year-old, hurriedly crossing the railway track at Baashettihalli near Doddaballpur to reach a theatre screening ‘Pushpa-2’, died on the spot after a speeding train mowed him down Thursday morning.
The deceased is Praveen Tamachalam, a resident of Baashettihalli and from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. An ITI diploma holder, Praveen worked for a private firm in Baashettihalli industrial area and lived with two friends in a rented accommodation, police said.
Police are looking for his two friends, who fled the scene following the accident reported around 9am. “Praveen and his two friends were heading to Vaibhav theatre in Gandhinagar for a 10am show.
While crossing the railway track, Praveen failed to notice the fast train and died on the spot after the locomotive engine knocked him down. His two friends, who watched in horror, fled the scene,” police said.
