NEW DELHI: India got off to a dreadful start as star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for a golden duck during the second Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.
After skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first, Australia speedster Mitchell Starc delivered a full, swinging delivery on leg stump. Yashasvi moved too far across and was struck on the shin in front of leg stump.
The umpire didn’t take much time and raised his finger, leaving no doubt about the decision.
A disappointed Yashasvi had a brief discussion with KL Rahul but chose not to review the decision and walked back to the pavilion.
Yashasvi had been instrumental in India’s victory in the first Test in Perth, where he recovered from a first-innings duck to score a stunning 161 in the second innings.
India dominated the Perth Test, securing a commanding 295-run win to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
