519 Indians staying illegally in US deported in a year: Government in Lok Sabha | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Centre Friday told Lok Sabha that 519 Indian nationals were deported from US, for being declared “unauthorised to stay” by American authorities, within a year’s time, reports
Replying to questions by TMC member Mala Roy on deportation of Indians from USA, minister of state for external affairs Kirti Vardhan Azad told the Lower House in a written reply that, “as per US government data, a total of 519 Indian nationals were deported to India during the period November 2023 to October 2024. Deportations are carried out by the US government through commercial and chartered flights.”
The junior external affairs minister was asked about “the number of Indians, both men and women, deported from the US during the last year… and the actual reason(s) for the deportation of Indians from US.”
The minister’s reply to the second part of the question on reasons for the deportation, mentions that “As per US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Indian nationals who were deported from the US were under order of removal, as they were declared unauthorised to stay in US by competent authorities,” without much detail on why deportees were “declared unauthorised.”
