NEW DELHI: An assistant sub inspector was killed and six others sustained injuries when an escort vehicle in Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma‘s carcade collided with another vehicle in the Jagatpura area. The incident occurred when Sharma was en route to a Laghu Udyog Bharti event where Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was to be the chief guest.
The accident near Akshaya Patra Chauraha on Jagatpura road involved five police personnel and two civilians who were hurt in the collision between the escort vehicle and a taxi.
Upon witnessing the accident, the chief minister rushed a critically wounded individual to the hospital in his vehicle. Other injured people were also admitted to the hospital.
According to Ramnagaria police station SHO Arun Kumar, the incident occurred when a vehicle approaching from the wrong direction struck the escort vehicle in the chief minister’s carcade.
ASI Surendra Singh, who was managing traffic at the intersection, succumbed to critical head injury during treatment.
The accident occurred when a taxi ignored the ASI’s signals and entered from the wrong direction, colliding with the escort vehicle. Both vehicles were badly damaged due to the incident.
Chief minister Sharma visited the injured persons at hospital to check on their condition and cancelled his attendance at the scheduled programme.
