Indian entrepreneurs and investors Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal, well-known for their roles on the popular show Shark Tank India, have expressed their support for the recently launched Shark Tank Pakistan. In a recent interview, Gupta and Mittal acknowledged the humour they find in certain aspects of the Pakistani version, but ultimately emphasised their desire to see the show succeed.
What did the ‘sharks’ say
“It’s really funny because…” Gupta is quoted as saying in the video, “We (referring to himself and Mittal) even have a similar background – they [the Pakistani sharks] also have a chartered accountant and a textile businessman – but that’s okay! It’s all about the entrepreneurs, and if this platform helps Pakistani entrepreneurs grow, that’s a good thing.”
While expressing support for Shark Tank Pakistan, Anupam Mittal, a prominent investor on Shark Tank India, also pointed out some concerning aspects of the show. He observed several instances of “fundamentally wrong” investment ideas and decisions, particularly highlighting a Rs 300 crore demand from one entrepreneur as an example of unrealistic expectations.
“Such requests simply don’t make sense in the context of business reality,” Mittal remarked.
Despite these observations, Mittal strongly emphasised the importance of economic growth in neighbouring countries for regional stability. He explained that a lack of economic development in a country can have significant repercussions, not only for its own citizens but also for its neighbours.
“If a country is not productive,” Mittal stated, “it creates trouble for itself and for others.” He highlighted that this principle applies to Pakistan as well. Any economic stagnation in Pakistan could potentially impact India’s progress.
Therefore, Mittal concluded, it is in India’s best interest to see Shark Tank Pakistan succeed.
