NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday said it would mobilise the constituents of INDIA bloc to get Congress evicted from the grouping if the main opposition party does not take action against its general secretary Ajay Maken, who, the party claimed, had dubbed Arvind Kejriwal anti-national.
“Ajay Maken has crossed all limits by calling Kejriwal anti-national. Despite campaigning for Congress in past elections, Kejriwal now faces an FIR, though Congress never filed a single FIR against any BJP leader,” AAP MP Sanjay Singh told reporters.
AAP demanded disciplinary action against Maken and other Congress members within 24 hours and said if no step is taken, it will push for the grand old party’s expulsion from the INDIA bloc. “We will ask the other parties in the alliance to remove Congress,” Singh said.
Taking umbrage at a ‘White Paper on Black Deeds of Kejriwal’ released by Congress as part of its campaign for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls, Singh said, “We did not say a single word against Congress during the Haryana elections. Yet, Congress seems to be reading out from BJP’s script. Its candidates’ list looks as if it was finalised at the BJP office,” he said.
Besides Maken, AAP also targeted Sandeep Dikshit, Congress’s candidate against Kejriwal in Gole Market, for targeting AAP instead of focusing on BJP. Congress, however, was not ready to blink. Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav said Kejriwal was panicking because he was facing a loss and was to be sent back to jail.
