JABALPUR: A man travelled around 250 km from Itarsi to Jabalpur between the wheels under the bogie of an express train before being spotted by railway employees at Jabalpur station.
The incident took place on December 24 when the Danapur Express, after covering the long distance, reached the outer limits of the station.
During a routine check, railway employees noticed a young man lying under the S-4 coach. Concerned for his safety, they immediately alerted the loco pilot via wireless communication, which led to the train being stopped.
Railway employees approached the coach and found the man hiding underneath. He was asked to come out.
The young man was then questioned by the railway staff, and during interrogation, he revealed that he had no money for a ticket and resorted to travelling in such a dangerous manner to reach his destination.
When contacted, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) TI stated that the man was not in a proper mental state.
He further explained that the young man’s behaviour and actions suggested that he may be suffering from some mental health issues.
The identity of the man remains unknown. Employees of the Carriage and Wagon Department (AC&W) allowed him to go after questioning.
After the video went viral on social media, officers said efforts were being made to gather more information about the individual, including his identity and place of residence. The RPF has now taken over the investigation to better understand the circumstances of the incident.
