SURAT: The son of a watchman and a housemaid in Surat is set for a promising career as a chartered accountant (CA), countering all odds and proving that determination and perseverance can transform lives.
Krushna Raut (22), who cleared the CA final exam with an All India Rank (AIR) 36, has not only made his family proud but is also set to alleviate their decades of financial struggle.
Krushna’s father, Simanchal, works as a security guard at a residential complex in Vesu, earning Rs 12,000 a month, while his mother, Tuni, earns Rs 6,000 as a housemaid. Despite their financial hardships, the couple ensured their children received an education.
“When Krushna was in Class VII, I suggested he prepare for a police job after Class XII,” said his father.
Krushna’s journey wasn’t an easy one
I knew that a job is available at the junior level in the police on passing Class 12. But he firmly told me he wanted to become a CA. Today, he has shown that his dream was worth pursuing,” said Simanchal, beaming with pride.
Krushna’s achievement is significant as neither of his parents had the opportunity to complete their education. Tuni never attended school, and Simanchal dropped out after Class VI when he migrated from Odisha to Surat at the age of 11 to support his family. For years, he worked as a labourer in a weaving unit before taking up his current job as a watchman.
Krushna’s journey to success wasn’t easy, but his talent and grit caught the attention of mentor Ravi Chhavchharia, who selected him for the CA Star Program, providing free education and guidance.
“I could study because of the sacrifices of my parents and the support of my mentor Ravi Sir,” Krushna told TOI.
Chhavchharia said, “Krushna overcame serious challenges to achieve his goal. Students like him show what hard work and determination can do.”
