NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday visited the violence-affected Sambhal district and handed the cheque of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of victims who were killed after being shot by the police.
On November 24, during the mosque survey, there was chaos in the Kotpurvi neighbourhood, where rioters engaged in stone-pelting and firing, and set several vehicles on fire. In that incident, five people lost their lives in the violence and several policemen sustained injuries.

After meeting the family, one of the member of the delegation of SP said that the whole country is ashamed. He also raised the question on justice system.
SP MP from Sambhal, Zia Ur Rehman Barq said, “Not only Sambhal but the entire state and country is ashamed. There had been some disputes between Hindus and Muslims but it was a gone case now. People were living in peace here but it was disturbed. Our five people have been killed…”

“We raised the voice of the people of Sambhal. What kind of justice is that, that our people were killed and cases were filed against us only? We believe in the Constitution and we hope that justice will be done…” he added.
In the Sambal violence case, till now the police have arrested a total of 50 people.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Sambhal, Shrish Chandra on Saturday said that a total of 50 people have been arrested. Speaking to ANI, the ASP said that one individual who was wanted in the case had been arrested from Delhi’s Batla House.
