BATHINDA/PATIALA: The protesting farmers in Punjab will organise tractor marches across the country on Jan 26. They have also planned to burn effigies of the Central govt on Jan 10 and burn copies of the national policy framework on agricultural marketing on Jan 13, even as farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s health deteriorated significantly since Monday night. He is being administered water via spoon as he is unable to drink from a glass.
His protest entered 43rd day on Tuesday.
After four years, protesting farmers have again chosen Jan 26 to hold tractor marches. On Jan 26, 2021, tractor marches took place in Delhi following a call by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, with numerous tractors heading towards Red Fort, where some unfortunate incidents occurred.
Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohad announced on Tuesday, after a joint meeting of the farmer forums Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, that detailed plans will be developed by both forums in the coming days to effectively implement the call for tractor marches.
The farmer leaders said that despite Dallewal’s health condition entering a critical phase, he has reiterated his resolve not to receive any medical aid and remains firm on sacrificing his life if it could make the Centre listen to the farmers.
