Sheeshmahal Row: AAP to march towards PM house over Delhi CM’s ‘Sheeshmahal | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, along with party workers, staged a sit-in on Wednesday after Delhi Police prevented them from visiting the chief minister’s residence.

The leaders had planned a march to the Prime Minister’s residence after visiting the CM’s house.
This came amid ongoing allegations by the BJP that the CM’s residence had been turned into a “Sheesh Mahal” during Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure.

Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sanjay Singh were seen in a heated exchange with police officers before they sat down in protest.
Earlier, addressing the media, Singh and Bhardwaj said they would also take journalists to the PM’s residence, which AAP has termed as the “Raj Mahal,” claiming its construction cost a staggering Rs 2,700 crore.
“As promised, we will visit the CM’s official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, at 11am to search for the golden commode, swimming pool, and mini bar that the BJP claims exist there,” Bhardwaj said.

He also emphasized, “Both the CM’s house and the PM’s residence are government properties, funded by taxpayer money during the Covid pandemic. If there are allegations of misuse of funds, both should be investigated.”
The bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road has been embroiled in controversy over alleged irregularities in renovations, extravagant fittings, and luxury items.
The BJP has used these allegations as a key talking point in its assembly election campaign, dubbing the residence the “Sheesh Mahal.”
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva has claimed that several expensive items, including a “gold-plated commode,” went missing after Kejriwal vacated the property.
In response, AAP has challenged the BJP to allow media scrutiny of the Prime Minister’s residence, offering to give a similar tour of the CM’s bungalow to set the record straight.
