NEW DELHI: Eight patrol vans, a gripping hour-long chase, and relentless pursuit through Nashik’s streets – that’s what it took for Nashik Police to corner drug traffickers and seize 28 kg of ganja in a dramatic late-night operation.
The action kicked off around 2 am on Tuesday when a red MH 02 car tried to blow past the Adgaon checkpoint.
Officers didn’t miss a beat – within seconds, the control room was buzzing and the chase was on.
Suspected of smuggling illegal weapons, narcotics, or explosives, the car became the focus of a full-throttle hunt.
Eight Nashik Police mobile units were deployed instantly, as the driver desperately swerved off major roads to slip away unnoticed. But there was no escape.
The chase zigzagged across Nashik, passing landmarks like Adgaon, Dwarka U-turn, Amardham U-turn, KK Wagh College and finally ending near Chakradhar Swami Mandir.
A sweep of the vehicle uncovered 28 kg of ganja stashed in the trunk.
“On suspicion of illegal firearms, narcotics, explosives, or similar restricted items, the control room was alerted within seconds. The Nashik city police’s 8 CR mobiles immediately sprang into action and launched a dramatic chase across the city,” Nashik Police tweeted, narrating the high-octane pursuit.
“The suspected driver tried to evade capture by driving through the main roads, but our team successfully apprehended him using a well-executed strategy, ensuring no harm was caused to others,” the police further revealed.
The officers behind the chase were hailed as heroes by Nashik City Police commissioner.
Special praise went to Bhau Rao Gangurde and Balkrishna Pawar, whose sharp instincts and rapid action kicked off the chase, leading to the traffickers’ downfall.
