NEW DELHI: India follows ‘a multi-aligned policy‘ that engages with multiple stakeholders, defence minister Rajnath Singh said Friday, asking ‘like-minded’ countries to collectively strive together to ensure peace and prosperity around the globe.
Chairing an ambassadors’ roundtable in the run-up to Aero-India in Bengaluru from February 10 to 14, Singh also invited friendly countries and their companies to establish joint ventures in the aerospace and defence sector in India, which has emerged as an attractive destination for investments.
The minister called for “enhanced cohesiveness” of the global community in view of the current security environment, which is in a state of flux with multiple conflicts and challenges. “It is of paramount importance that like-minded countries should strive together for collective actions for peace and prosperity,” Singh said.
“Without these, our future generations will not be able to take advantage of economic growth or technological innovations that we are experiencing in today’s era,” Singh said.
As India emerges as “a leading voice” for Global South, it advocates a multi-aligned policy approach, which ensures that diverse views are considered in collective pursuit of prosperity.
“PM Modi has articulated India’s commitment to addressing global challenges through five guiding principles: respect, dialogue, cooperation, peace and prosperity. In today’s geopolitical landscape, fostering unity among like-minded nations is essential for ensuring mutual prosperity and peace, while addressing contemporary challenges,” Singh said.
India possesses one of the largest defence industrial ecosystems in Asia and government is committed to further enhancing capabilities, Singh added.
