NEW DELHI: Congress on Sunday unveiled its third guarantee, announcing that if voted to power in Delhi, it will give Rs 8,500 to every educated unemployed youth for one year under ‘Yuva Udaan Yojana‘.
In a press conference, Congress leader Sachin Pilot said that the scheme is not just a financial aid to the unemployed youth but the government will try to absorb the workforce in the industry in which they have been trained.
“The people of Delhi will elect a new government on 5th February…We are going to present some guarantees for the people of Delhi. Today, our party has decided that we will provide Rs 8,500 per month to the youths of Delhi who are educated but unemployed for a period of 1 year,” Pilot said.
“This is not just financial help. We will try to get them absorbed in the industry in which they have been trained…” Congress leader Sachin Pilot said while announcing the incentive.
This comes days after Congress announced monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 for eligible women under the Pyaari Didi Yojana and up to a Rs 25 lakh health insurance cover through a proposed Jeevan Raksha Yojana for Delhi residents in its first and second guarantees respectively.
Though the manifesto has yet to be released, the party will offer five guarantees, focusing on welfare schemes and financial incentives. Party insiders indicate these guarantees were formulated through consultations and grassroots feedback.
In the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly polls, the AAP won 67 and 62 seats respectively. The BJP won three seats in 2015 and eight in 2020 while the Congress drew a blank.
