NEW DELHI: At least three persons were killed and 15 injured when an auto-rickshaw hit multiple vehicles in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Wednesday
The accident occurred around 4.15 am on the Mumbai-Agra highway near Khinavli bridge in Ghoteghar village, Shahapur taluka.
According to an official from Shahapur police station, the auto-rickshaw driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit a road divider, cross into the opposite lane, and crash into a private luxury bus, two cars, and a tempo.
Three passengers on the bus died on the spot, while 15 others, including the auto-rickshaw driver, were injured. The bus was traveling from Nashik to Mumbai at the time of the incident, the official added.
Emergency response teams and local police rushed to the scene after being alerted. The injured were taken to Shahapur sub-hospital, where three of them are reported to be in critical condition.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination, police said.
