29-year-old Dalit woman in UP stripped while trying to save kin | Bareilly News – The Times of India


PILIBHIT: A 29-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly stripped in front of several villagers in a sugarcane field when she tried to rescue her husband’s younger brother from the clutches of his attackers, who were brutally beating him over some dispute. Six accused were booked following a complaint.
The victim, belonging to a village under Kheri police station, alleged that the accused persons also attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon that caused deep wounds on her right arm. Another man who intervened to save the woman lost a finger on his left hand after he was attacked with a scythe.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening, and FIR was lodged on Thursday.
SHO Santosh Kumar Singh said an FIR was lodged against the accused under BNS section 191 (2) (rioting), 191 (3) (rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 76 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to disrobe her), and sections of the SC/ST Act. The SHO said the accused were absconding.
