At least three people have died, and four others are missing after a boat carrying 17 passengers capsized in the Ganga near Golaghat in Bihar’s Katihar district.

NEW DELHI: At least three people died, and four others are missing after a boat carrying 17 passengers capsized in the Ganga near Golaghat in Bihar’s Katihar district on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Amdabad area, with ten people managing to swim to safety or being rescued. A search operation is underway for the missing individuals, officials added.
District magistrate (DM) Manesh Kumar Meena stated, “The rescue operation is ongoing to locate the four missing persons. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the mishap.”
Two of the deceased were identified as Pawan Kumar (60) and Sudhir Mandal (70), while the identity of the third victim is yet to be confirmed.
