NEW DELHI: A day after an alleged attack on his vehicle during election canvassing, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal stated on Sunday that his life was dedicated to serving the nation. He, however, emphasised that Delhi had never seen such violent electioneering, where a “murderous attack” was attempted on a former chief minister.

The AAP has accused New Delhi BJP candidate Parvesh Verma’s “goons” of orchestrating the attack during Kejriwal’s campaign in the constituency on Saturday.
“This kind of violence and campaigning is unprecedented in Delhi’s history, with a murderous attack being attempted on a former CM. They are resorting to such tactics because they are losing badly,” Kejriwal said, taking aim at the BJP.
Responding to Verma’s claim that Kejriwal would lose the New Delhi seat by 20,000 votes, the AAP leader dismissed it with a laugh. “Let him enjoy his dreams for a few days,” he remarked to reporters.
In addition, Kejriwal revealed that he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, proposing a housing scheme for government employees. He suggested that the Delhi government could construct the houses if the Centre provides land.
He added that the scheme could initially focus on sanitation workers as beneficiaries, eventually extending to other government employees with affordable terms.
‘Stones thrown at Arvind Kejriwal’s car’
On Saturday, AAP shared a video on their official X handle, showing an alleged stone being thrown at Arvind Kejriwal’s car. The party accused the supporters of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, who was also campaigning at the time, of carrying out the attack.
AAP claimed that in a panic over a potential loss, the BJP resorted to violence, with Verma’s supporters throwing bricks and stones at Kejriwal in an attempt to prevent him from campaigning. The party posted on X, “BJP’s goons attacked Arvind Kejriwal, but he will not be intimidated by your cowardly actions. The people of Delhi will respond to this attack.”
In response, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma countered AAP’s allegations, accusing Kejriwal’s vehicle of running over BJP workers. He claimed that Kejriwal’s car had struck three young men, calling it an “attempt to murder.”
Verma further alleged that Punjab Police had assaulted three unemployed youths who had been asking Kejriwal questions about employment. According to Verma, these residents, Vishal, Abhishek, and Rohit, were beaten by police when they tried to question Kejriwal during his door-to-door campaign near Lal Bahadur Sadan.
Verma also accused Kejriwal of signaling his driver to “run over” the three youths. The BJP candidate announced plans to file an FIR against Kejriwal, alleging “attempt to murder.”
