NEW DELHI: The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday witnessed a unique blend of cricket and music as legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, along with his wife Anjali and daughter Sara, made a surprise appearance at Coldplay’s concert.
While the British band thrilled fans with their chart-topping hits, chants of “Sachin, Sachin” reverberated through the stadium, briefly overshadowing the music.
Perched in a balcony, Sachin acknowledged the crowd’s overwhelming adoration by raising his hand and waving in gratitude, a gesture that sent fans into a frenzy.

Adding to the cricket-themed surprises, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin gave a shoutout to India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah during the show.
Pausing before one of their final songs, Martin joked, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage. He says he needs to bowl at me now!”
While the mention of Bumrah ignited excitement and speculation about a surprise appearance, the cricketer did not take the stage. However, the gesture showcased Coldplay’s effort to connect with their Indian audience by integrating cricket, a passion that unites millions in the country.
The concert is part of Coldplay’s highly anticipated India tour, which includes additional performances in Mumbai on January 19 and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26.
