Elon Musk has shared his reaction to the photo of one of his biggest critics, Bernie Sanders taken during Trump’s inauguration. Replying to a photo featuring the senior democrat leader shared on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter), the world’s richest man addressed Sanders as a ‘grumpy muppet. The photo was from Trump’s US presidential inauguration ceremony which was captioned “Bah HumBernie”. Musk took to the comment section of the post and wrote: “He’s such a grumpy muppet 😂”

This comes after Sanders voiced concerns about the current political climate in the US following Donald Trump‘s return to the presidency. Earlier, he shared a post that highlighted top billionaires seated behind Trump during the inauguration ceremony.
Sanders shared a photo on X showing Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos seated together at Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
Captioning the photo, Sanders wrote: “When I started talking about Oligarchy, many people didn’t understand what I meant. Well, that’s changed. When the 3 wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government. We must fight back.”
The post was shared by another X account to which Musk replied: “The intern running Bernie’s account is working overtime lmao. There were literally twice as many ‘billionaires’ supporting Kamala vs Trump.”
Musk has been appointed head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration. This highlights Trump’s evolving ties with tech leaders. Trump, now the second US president after Grover Cleveland to serve non-consecutive terms, also appears to have reconciled with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, following their recent meeting at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump’s inauguration ceremony was attended by other prominent figures, including former presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as senior democrat leader Bernie Sanders.
