NEW DELHI: England’s promising young batter Harry Brook has been appointed as the new white-ball vice-captain, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced ahead of their much-anticipated series against India. Brook, who turns 26 next month, has quickly established himself as a key player in England’s setup since his international debut in a T20I against West Indies three years ago.
Brook’s record across formats is a testament to his consistency and skill. In 39 T20Is, he has amassed 707 runs, while his ODI tally stands at 719 runs in 20 matches. Additionally, Brook has excelled in Test cricket, scoring an impressive 2,281 runs in 24 matches. His career so far includes nine centuries and 18 fifties, showcasing his ability to perform in all conditions and formats.

Under the leadership of Jos Buttler, England are set to begin their five-match T20I series against India on January 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series, marking the final white-ball assignment for both teams before the ICC Champions Trophy in February.
Brook’s appointment as vice-captain reflects his growing influence within the team and the ECB’s confidence in his leadership abilities. He will be seen in action alongside key players like Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, and Joe Root during the India tour.
