NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday unveiled the final part of Delhi BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls while sparring no words to criticise the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, saying he had “never seen such a liar in his political career”.
In the final part of its manifesto, the BJP has made some big promises on the issues that have been a flashpoint between the saffron party and the ruling AAP.
Shah said the party would implement PM Modi’s flagship medical insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat in the first Cabinet meeting.
The party has promised ownership rights to the unauthorised colonies and the formation of a welfare board for gig workers along with insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh insurance and Rs 5 lakh accident cover.
Amit Shah also claimed the BJP, once voted to power, would clean Yamuna in three years.
He further said the BJP-ruled Delhi government would fill 50,000 government posts in a transparent manner and create 20 lakh self-employment opportunities.
Amit Shah again assured the people of the national capital that “no welfare schemes for the poor will be stopped” in Delhi.
Lashing out at the AAP, Amit Shah said the “biggest poll issue in Delhi is to get rid of ‘liars and betrayers’, adding that the ruling party in Delhi “does not fulfil its promises and then again he (Arvind Kejriwal) comes forward with a heap of lies and an innocent face”.
“In my political career, I have never seen such a liar. I have no problem with using such harsh words because I am convinced,” the Union home minister said.
Cornerning Kejriwal on AAP’s unfulfilled promises of cleaning Yamuna, providing clean drinking water and making Delhi pollution-free, the BJP’s top gun said: “I have come here to release the last part of Sankalp Patra for Delhi elections 2025. We consider the elections as a medium of public connect, we go amid people to know the expectations. Without taking the name of other parties, I want to say that for BJP, Sankalp Patra is a matter a trust, and it is a list of works to be done. They are not just promises made on paper. Since 2014, PM Modi has established a politics of performance, and the BJP has made every endeavour to fulfil its promises made in the manifesto. It is our track record.”
Shah stepped up his attack on Kejriwal over the alleged liquor scam, saying the latter went against his words and opened liquor stores near schools, temples, and even gurudwaras.
“He (Arvind Kejriwal) said he would close liquor stores from residential areas. Let alone residential areas, Arvind Kejriwal did not spare schools, temples, and even gurudwaras. He gave licences to open liquor stores in their vicinity,” Amit Shah said.
He further added: “Thousands of crores worth of liquor scam was done and this scam was done by their education minister (Manish Sisodia). This was unprecedented… When Arvind Kejriwal was in jail, he did not resign on moral grounds, but proudly stayed as the CM inside prison.”
