NEW DELHI: An Indonesian delegation performed the iconic Bollywood song ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai‘ at a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday, adding a cultural touch to the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two countries.
The event at Rashtrapati Bhavan, held in honour of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, was also attended by senior Indonesian cabinet members, who joined the celebrations.
The song is the title track of the classic Bollywood movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ that features Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. The musical composition by Jatin Lalit, voiced by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, gained immense popularity and continues to resonate with audiences across the world today.
President Prabowo Subianto’s inaugural state visit to India features his role as the chief guest at the 76th Republic Day celebrations on Kartavya Path on Sunday.
Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, Indonesia’s Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta, a 190-member ensemble band from the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil), will showcase their discipline and rich military traditions.
This remarkable fusion of military music and noble values symbolises the academy’s spirit and honour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conducted discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at Delhi’s Hyderabad House on Saturday.
PM Modi welcomed President Subianto, specifying the historic bond shared two countries, stating that, “Indonesia was the chief guest country on India’s first Republic Day, and as we celebrate 75 years of the Republic, it is a matter of great pride to have Indonesia part of this occasion again.”
During their meeting, both the leaders emphasised their dedication to enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership, particularly in areas of defence, security, maritime cooperation, economic relations, and cultural exchanges.
