NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched the party’s manifesto for the 2025 Delhi assembly elections featuring 15 key “Kejriwal ki guarantee.”
Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal also criticised the BJP, accusing the party of mimicking AAP’s promise-based governance, stating that “We coined the term ‘guarantee’ first in the country. After us, the BJP stole it, but the difference is, we fulfil our guarantees, and they do not.”
Kejriwal was accompanied by Delhi chief minister Atishi and party leaders Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia. Some of the key guarantees include:
- Free bus travel for students: AAP promised free bus travel for students and a 50% discount on metro fares if the party wins the Delhi Assembly elections.
- Employment and women’s welfare: Kejriwal guarantees job opportunities for the youth and announces the ‘Mahila Samman Yojna’ to support women if AAP comes to power.
- Free healthcare for elderly: AAP vows to provide free medical treatment for senior citizens.
- Monthly allowance for women: AAP promises a Rs 2,100 monthly allowance for women, describing it as a “Kejriwal ki guarantee”
- Clean drinking water: AAP to ensure clean drinking water, a cleaner Yamuna, and better roads within the next five years
Haryana AAP chief and party MP Sushil Gupta commended the former Delhi CM governance approach while criticising the BJP for imitating AAP’s programmes, ahead of the party’s manifesto announcement.
Speaking about Kejriwal’s leadership, Gupta stated that, “Across the country, Arvind Kejriwal is a leader who does what he says. He provided free electricity and free water, he improved the quality of schools and hospitals, he provided free bus travel to women.”
“Arvind Kejriwal is a leader who runs Delhi Government for profit and provides facilities to people as well. BJP is copying Arvind Kejriwal and saying that they would provide the same in Delhi. They have governments in several states but they never provided it anywhere,” he added.
The Delhi Assembly polls are scheduled for February 5 in a single phase, with vote counting to commence on February 8. The electoral contest features 699 candidates vying for Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies.
