“Keep doing what I’m doing”: Tom Brady’s advice to Patrick Mahomes has significantly influenced the Chiefs this season | NFL News – The Times of India

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was unsure about the future of the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs. However, Mahomes knew he could do everything to have a good chance of returning to the big game by following Tom Brady’s advice in January 2019. Mahomes has been with the Chiefs for seven years and is ready to face whatever comes his way.

Tom Brady’s guidance to Patrick Mahomes had a major influence on the Chiefs this season

The legendary quarterback, Tom Brady pulled the young Kansas City signal-caller Patrick Mahomes aside after their first playoff meeting. His words proved prophetic in a season that tested the back-to-back Super Bowl champions. Brady’s advice to Mahomes, which he still considers the best advice as a professional, has led to Mahomes and his teammates returning to February six months later.
The Chiefs have extended their season past January and into the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years, making it the first time in six years. They are also looking to win three consecutive Lombardi Trophies, a feat that the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and New England Patriots failed to achieve after winning back-to-back titles.

In August, Chiefs coach Andy Reid had one plan that was working toward his group, but he didn’t know what was coming. He wouldn’t see Hollywood Brown until Christmas, and two promising left tackles would need to be replaced when they were activated. A veteran would be signed at midseason, but Joe Thuney would eventually replace him.
In December, the corner situation would become unsustainable, and Chris Jones would play through an injury. Yet despite those setbacks, Mahomes knew that there was going to be a way, and the Chiefs just kept moving on.
“We dealt with so much adversity at the beginning of the year, and we just kept winning,” Mahomes told me in a quiet moment after Kansas City’s AFC championship win over the Buffalo Bills. “We found ways to win at the end of the day. Games like today—and the defense getting that stop, when we only got a field goal at the end, that’s just stuff we did from the beginning of the year. It’s made us hardened.”
He further added, “It’s made us even better for the adversity we dealt with. I’m just glad we got some of those guys that were injured back, and now we can see the vision [we had] for the offense. We’re going to need it because we’re going up against a great team in Philadelphia.”

The stage is set for a highly anticipated Super Bowl 59, with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs taking on Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 9. This marks a thrilling rematch, as the two teams met just two years ago in Super Bowl 57, where Kansas City emerged victorious with a nail-biting 38-35 win.
