TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee criticizes President Murmu’s address, labels it ‘depressing’ | India News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a scathing critique following the President’s address today, Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Kalyan Banerjee expressed deep dissatisfaction, asserting that the speech lacked novelty and failed to outline a clear vision for the upcoming year.
“It is really funny. If you compare the speech from 2024 and today’s speech, all are equal. It has been proved that nothing new has been done by Narendra Modi in the last one year,” Banerjee remarked, highlighting his perception of stagnation in governmental initiatives.
He further criticized the government’s claims regarding the development of the Northeast region. “They are talking about the development of the Northeast, but have the PM, the President, or the Vice President ever gone there? No one has gone to Manipur to save the state,” Banerjee stated, emphasizing the absence of high-level visits to the region during times of need.

Expressing his frustration, Banerjee concluded, “I am really frustrated with this speech. Nothing has been said on what will be done in the next one year. Depressing!”
The President’s address, delivered earlier today, was anticipated to outline the administration’s achievements over the past year and set the agenda for the forthcoming year. However, Banerjee’s comments suggest a growing discontent among opposition members regarding the government’s direction and priorities.
