NEW DELHI: A passenger traveling with IndiGo from Chandigarh to Delhi recently encountered an unusual inconsistency at the airport check-in counter.
While weighing his luggage, he alleged that two different counters displayed varying weight readings for the same bag, raising concerns over the accuracy of the weighing machines.

The passenger, Daksh Sethi, initially suspected something was off as his bag felt lighter than the weight indicated.
When he pointed this out to the airline staff, he was advised to check it on another scale—only to find that the second scale also showed a different weight.
Documenting the incident, Sethi shared a video on Instagram that quickly went viral.
“Chandigarh Airport. 30th Jan, ’25. Around 16:00 hrs @indigo.6e Counter. Same Bag. Two counters. Two different weights. 2.3 KGs difference,” he wrote.
He further expressed his concerns, stating, “Can these machines be easily manipulated? I hope this is just a rare technical glitch. My bag didn’t feel as heavy as the machine showed, so the lady at the counter suggested I check it on another belt. To my shock, it displayed a different weight! These inconsistencies shake our trust in the system. I hope this matter is taken seriously.”
The video sparked discussions among travelers, many of whom shared similar experiences.

Responding to the growing concerns, IndiGo addressed the issue, stating, “Hi, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We’d like to inform you that the weighing machines are calibrated and certified by the airport operator at regular intervals. Be assured, we have shared your feedback with the relevant team. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard again soon.”
