One person was killed and four others injured following an explosion in Moscow, Russia’s capital. The blast occured in an upscale residential block in Moscow, the injured included a Ukrainian separatist, Russian news agencies reported.
The cause of the explosion has not been revealed, but the injured were reported to be in serious condition. The authorities have launched a criminal investigation, though no charges have been specified.
Footage released by the Investigative Committee showed significant damage to the building, with shattered glass doors and torn ceilings. One of the wounded, Armen Sarkisian, a former boxing official and separatist leader, was reportedly in critical condition. Russian media initially reported his death but later confirmed he survived.
Russia, which has been engaged in war with Ukraine, has seen an increase in attacks on Moscow. Notably, in 2024, an attack at a concert hall in the city resulted in over 140 deaths.
