Five people were shot and wounded at an adult education center in the central Swedish city of Orebro on Tuesday, police said. The extent of their injuries remains unclear.
A large-scale police operation is underway, and authorities have urged people to stay away from the area. “There has been a shooting at the school. Four people have been shot. The extent of the injuries is unclear. The operation is ongoing,” police said in a statement. Minutes later, they updated that a fifth person had been shot.
Images from the scene showed a heavy police presence with multiple ambulances and emergency vehicles outside the school. The adult education center is located about 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of Stockholm.
