AGRA: Two gunners of Etawah MP Jitendra Kumar Dohare have been booked for intimidating toll plaza staff and forcibly getting 30 cars and a bus to pass without payment, police said on Thursday.
Agra DCP Sonam Kumar said that a case has been registered against two gunners under charges of “misconduct, attempted provocation and damaging local property”. A letter regarding the matter has been sent to the Etawah SP for further action against the two cops, Kumar added. Account manager of Rahankalan toll, Narayan Singh, filed the police complaint.
The incident took place at Inner Ring Road toll plaza at Etmadpur around 8:30pm on Tuesday when Ranjit Kumar and Shivam Kumar — deputed for the Samajwadi Party MP‘s security — allegedly removed the boom barrier to allow the convoy to pass. They also “intimidated toll staff, citing the presence of the MP and his son’s wedding procession”. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
Toll plaza manager Shiv Veer Singh said the vehicles were travelling for “private purposes”, hence they refused to let them pass without payment. The car leading the convoy — from which the gunner alighted — had a red beacon mounted on its dashboard, the manager pointed out. The constables also threatened them, claiming “they had passed through the expressway toll in a similar way”.
MP Dohre told TOI: “I’m aware of the complaint by toll plaza workers. I was not present on the spot. I’ll talk to them about the issue. Police should also investigate the matter.”
