NEW DELHI: In a pivotal electoral contest in Delhi, the Lokniti-CSDS exit poll released on Friday predicts a clear edge for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the assembly elections, with an estimated vote share of 46%, ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 41%.
These projections are in line with the Axis My India exit poll, which forecasts BJP securing 45-55 seats with a 48% vote share, while AAP is expected to win 15-25 seats with a 42% share.
The CSDS survey, which was based on a sample size of 3,137 across 140 locations, included responses from 42% women, 16% Muslim, 2% Sikh, 80% Hindu, and 18% SC voters.
Interestingly, the Lokniti-CSDS survey suggests a larger role for Congress, predicting a 9% vote share. In contrast, Axis My India exit polls estimate Congress at a much lower share of 7%.
Voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly concluded on February 5, and the results are scheduled to be announced on February 8.
