Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met US national security advisor Michael Waltz and said that h has always been a great friend of India.
The two leaders greeted each other by shaking hands and commenced the bilateral meeting.
After the meeting , PM Modi took his account on X and said that he had a wonderful discussion on defence, technology and security.
PM Modi had reached the US capital on Wednesday evening ahead of his bilateral discussions with President Donald Trump.
The meeting included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.
PM Modi, who is one a two-day visit to the US, is staying at the Blair House, the President’s Guest House, where the Prime Minister held discussions with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday.
“Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary,” Modi said on X.
Gabbard had taken her oath as the eighth Director of National Intelligence before Trump just hours prior to her meeting with PM Modi.
PM Modi will also meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at the Blair House.
There are possibilities that Musk, who has been appointed as special US government employee and heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will discuss Starlink’s India plans, Reuters reported.
PM Modi will also meet Indian-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader from Ohio, Vivek Ramaswamy. He had earlier been in the race for the White House but eventually pulled out.
The Indian-origin entreprenuer who gained attention for his outspoken debate performances, had ended his presidential bid and threw his support behind Donald Trump whom he had earlier dubbed the “best president of 21st century”.
Notably, this is PM Modi’s first visit to the United States after Donald Trump assumed office for the second term.
