NEW DELHI: The Calcutta high court on Friday granted permission for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) rally in Burdwan on February 16.
Justice Amrita Sinha gave conditional approval to the rally’s organisers, as reported by PTI.
The court dismissed the West Bengal government‘s objection to the event.
The organisers of the rally, which is set to be addressed by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, had approached the court after state police denied permission, citing concerns that loudspeakers could disrupt students appearing for the ongoing Madhyamik Pariksha (secondary exams).
The petitioner argued that no schools were in the immediate vicinity of the rally venue, the court noted that no exams were scheduled for Sunday, the day of the event.
