MYSURU: Four members of a family were found dead under suspicious circumstances in two apartment homes in south Mysuru early Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Chethan, a businessman, his wife Rupali (43), their son Kushal (15), and Chethan’s mother Priyamvada (65). Police found Chethan hanging, while his wife and son were discovered lifeless inside their home at Sankalp Serene Apartments. His mother was found dead in a separate apartment within the same complex.
Mysuru Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar and DCP S Janhavi visited the scene to investigate. While the exact cause of death remains unclear, police suspect financial distress may have been a contributing factor.
According to sources, Chethan was struggling with heavy debt and was under pressure from lenders to repay the money. The tragedy is believed to have occurred late Sunday and came to light when one of Chethan’s relatives alerted the police after receiving a voice message from him, in which he reportedly mentioned ending his life.
Police suspect Chethan may have poisoned his wife, son, and mother before taking his own life, though forensic and post-mortem reports are awaited for confirmation. Investigators are examining his phone records, financial transactions, and messages to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
Neighbours said the family had been living in the apartment for the past ten years and appeared to be leading a normal life, with no visible signs of distress in recent days.
Authorities have urged individuals facing financial or emotional difficulties to seek help from family, friends, or helpline services.
