NEW DELHI: India bowling coach Morne Morkel rejoined the team in Dubai on Wednesday after briefly returning home due to a personal emergency, as reported by TimesofIndia.com.
The former South African pacer, appointed as India’s bowling coach in September last year, had initially arrived in Dubai with the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy on February 15.
Morkel attended the team’s afternoon practice session at the ICC Academy on February 16 but was absent from training on February 17.
On his return on Wednesday, Morkel was spotted stepping off the team bus, dressed in a white hoodie and black shorts.
India have been in dominant form in the tournament, securing back-to-back six-wicket wins against Bangladesh and arch-rivals Pakistan.
Having already sealed a semifinal berth, Rohit Sharma and his men will face New Zealand in their final group-stage match on Sunday.
Both India and New Zealand have advanced to the semifinals from Group A.
