Abhay Singh, called ‘IIT Baba’, claimed he was assaulted during a debate at a Noida studio. His prophecy about India’s cricket loss led to trolling after India’s victory. Singh protested but withdrew after police assured action. Singh, an IIT graduate turned sadhu, is known for his bold statements and predictions.

NEW DELHI: Abhay Singh, popularly known as ‘IIT Baba‘, has alleged that he was assaulted during a news debate at a private channel’s studio in Noida on Friday, according to news agency PTI.
In a complaint to the police, ‘IIT Baba’ claimed that a group of saffron-clad individuals entered the newsroom, misbehaved with him, and beat him with sticks. Following the incident, he staged a protest outside the police outpost in Sector 126.

However, he later withdrew his protest after police intervention and assurance of action.
Singh, an aerospace engineer-turned-sadhu, first gained public attention during the onset of the Maha Kumbh. His journey—from being a graduate of IIT-Mumbai to embracing a monastic life—has intrigued many. However, it is his bold statements and predictions that often keep him in the spotlight.
Recently, Singh found himself at the center of a social media storm after a cricket match between India and Pakistan. His prophecy about India’s defeat went awry as the Men in Blue triumphed over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy match.
Before the high-profile encounter, Singh had confidently declared in a podcast that India had no chance of winning. “Iss bar India nahi jeetegi. Virat Kohli aur sabko bol do ki jeet ke dikha dein. Maine bola nahi jeetegi India toh nahi jeetegi (India will not win this time. Tell Virat Kohli and Co. to try their best, but they won’t. If I say they won’t win, they won’t),” he had said.
However, after India’s emphatic victory, his remarks became the subject of widespread trolling and memes on social media.
