Telangana tunnel collapse: Four trapped workers located, says minister on 8th day of rescue operation – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Whereabouts of four trapped workers in Telangana tunnel collapse have been located, state minister Krishna Rao said as the rescue operations continued on the 8th day.
More than 500 rescuers on Friday worked to locate eight individuals trapped in the SLBC tunnel after a section collapsed six days ago. Meanwhile, Nagarkurnool district collector B Santhosh refuted claims that images captured by NGRI’s ground-penetrating radar (GPR) showed human bodies amid the tunnel debris.
“We have noticed that some fake news is going on that some bodies have been found. That news is not true. I request the Media also. If there is any such news, we will inform from the collector’s side,” he told reporters.
Following government directives, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has deployed 200 personnel for the ongoing SLBC tunnel rescue operations. Meanwhile, South Central Railway has also mobilized teams equipped with tools like plasma cutters and Brocho cutting machines, according to SCR chief public relations officer A Sridhar.
The eight individuals trapped in the tunnel have been identified as Manoj Kumar and Sri Niwas from Uttar Pradesh, Sunny Singh from Jammu & Kashmir, Gurpreet Singh from Punjab, and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu, and Anuj Sahu from Jharkhand.
Among them, two are engineers, two are operators, and the remaining four are laborers from Jharkhand. The engineers and laborers were employed by Jaiprakash Associates, the contracting firm for the SLBC tunnel project.
