Many Cricket fans across India have their own superstitions. The small-small things they follow/do or not do before India’s crucial messages. The list includes wearing certain clothes/colours, standing/sitting at certain places (or at times even in positions); eating that very food for breakfast/lunch/dinner and the list is wrong and quite odd too. And of course not to forget vising places of worship. But no surprises in any of these as Cricket is a Religion in India.
It seems one of India’s biggest industry leaders, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra, too has one related to Cricket. Mahindra got a message from a Twitter user on the day of the crucial semi-final match between India and Australia in Dubai. ‘Please don’t watch #IndvsAus match,’ wrote the user responding to Anand Mahindra‘s post on pavements being the most important design element of all streets.
Post the match, Mahindra quoted the ‘not to watch match request’ made to him and wrote: “Of course I didn’t. And as a result, we won…”
Went to watch India-Australia match in March 2023, and then …
Incidentally, this is not the first time that Anand Mahindra has shared of his not watching India matches due to the fear of the team losing the matches he watches. He shared on Twitter in March 2023, how he went to watch an India-Australia match in Mumbai and left after India lost three wickets. “So I decided to be at the #INDvsAUS match today. Came at the start of the India innings to cheer what I thought would be a cruise to victory. Haven’t lost hope but we’ve lost all three wickets since I got here 🙄 I better leave before I’m crucified for being the cause of the wickets!”, Mahindra wrote.
Made ChatGPT draw Indian Cricket team
Elated like all Cricket fans in India after Indian teams victory in ICC T20 World Cup, Mahindra asked AI chatbot to make Indian Cricket team‘s photograph. “Hello Chat GPT 4.O Please make me a graphic image showing the Indian Cricket team as Superheroes. Because they were SuperCool till the end. The greatest gift of this final to India was that it didn’t come easy. It almost slipped out of their grasp. But they never lost the match in their minds. Reminding all of us that being a Superhero never comes without a fierce determination to win and a Never Give In attitude. Jai Ho!,” he wrote.
Cricket goes to another level in India
Sharing a ptograph of cricket being played in mountains in India, Mahindra wrote in a post with emojis in January 2024, “India takes cricket to another level. Or should I say many ‘levels’…. 👍🏽🙁”
In December 2020, Anand Mahindra wrote that it may be time to create an Indian Snow Cricket league after a Twitter user shared a photo of Kashmiri Youth playing cricket on Snow at Gurez Bandipora district of North Kashmir. Responding to the same, Mahindra wrote, “One league left to be created.. the ISCL Indian Snow Cricket league…”
