NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced that a “grand temple” for Sita would be constructed as he acknowledged the contribution of people of Mithilanchal and Bihar in the development of Gujarat. This comes as Bihar assembly elections remain due later this year.
Recalling the time when he visited Bihar during Lok Sabha election rally, Shah said, “When I went to Bihar during the Lok Sabha elections, I had said Ram Mandir has been built, now it is the turn to build a grand temple of Sita Mata. The temple will give a message of woman power to the whole world and how life should be ideal in every way.”
“The people from Mithilanchal and Bihar who have settled in Gujarat have contributed significantly to its growth,” he said. He was speaking at the ‘Shashwat Mithila Mahotsav 2025’ event in Ahmedabad.
Going on about the contributions of Mithilanchal towards the nation, he said, “Mahatma Buddha had said many times that as long as the people of Videha live together, no one can defeat them. Mithilanchal proved to be a strong force of democracy, which kept giving its message to the whole country for years. Mithilanchal was also a land of Shastrartha.”
Meanwhile, Congress has already charged upon the NDA for making “political use” of religion in the state as assembly elections approach.
“It appears the NDA is making political use of these ‘babas’, since it is wary of facing the people in elections with its dismal track record on governance,” Congress leader Tariq Anwar said. He was talking about Bageshwar Baba’s visit to Gopalganj.
“I have no problem with these religious leaders going anywhere. But, I wonder why they are made to always take the trouble of visiting poll-bound areas,” he said.
Additionally, Bihar received significant attention in the Union Budget, with finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Madhubani-print saree, announced multiple benefits for the state.
